I am thrilled to be heading to Italy in about a week and to commemorate this new adventure, I am releasing a limited run of Majolica pots, along with a few new soda fired wares.

I began making this work about two years ago as a resident at the Faenze Art Ceramic Center, in a town known for its deep history of Majolica production and with several local potters continuing to uphold the tradition. Traditionally, Majolica is an opaque white glaze on earthenware clay with overglaze painting. I was inspired by what I saw last time in Italy, and brought in form influence from Etruscan ceramics, colors and casualness in brushwork from 15 - 16 century Italian Majolica production, with influence from my surroundings for the patterning. For me, this work is fun and challenges me to think outside of my standard means of working in high fire soda work. It creates freshness in the studio for me!
